Welcome to Blackburn leisure or Blackies as it is more commonly known by its customers, the history of the club originates back to when Robert Blackburn was a pioneer in British aviation and the social club was established for the social benefits of the employees of the company, now long in the past. Blackie's club has undergone some big changes in its life as a social club developing into a social hub for brough and its surrounding villages and towns, offering a massive scope of activities ranging from the more obvious like snooker and pool to the more specialist in astronomy.
as you can imagine the list is quite long and developing as time goes by.
there have been a number of stewards who have run the club some more successful than others and anyone taking this position on had to be 100 % committed and have the ability
to manage a club that has so much potential and to develop this potential, and so far Phil Ashmore and partner Jane ( R.I.P JANE you will be sadley missed) have stepped up to the mark and gone beyond what was
believed possible of them just recently involved in establishing a Boxing academy and although it's in its early days has proved popular
with those who have visited with a group of staff commited to offering a friendly and proffesional service.
